Stained Glass Cross Tattoo

Today a woman whose husband is coming home with new art every few months decided to join the illustrated. She is starting with a classic simple cross I think of as having a stained glass look, and we gave her a coloring book line pattern to color in herself with her preference for vivid colors.

Icelandic " Vegvísir " Tattoo

Today's client began the first session for a large Viking dragon half sleeve, and to complement the design we added the Vegvísir under his arm. In this version it is surrounded by the runes of the Elder Futhark, the oldest form of the runic alphabet.

A Vegvísir (Icelandic 'sign post') is an Icelandic magical stave intended to help the bearer find their way through rough weather.

The symbol is found in the Huld Manuscript, collected in Iceland by Geir Vigfusson in 1860 (but consisting of material of earlier origin).  A leaf of the manuscript provides an image of the vegvísir, gives its name, and, in prose, declares that "if this sign is carried, one will never lose one's way in storms or bad weather, even when the way is not known". - Wikipedia

Celtic 'Mystic Rose' Tattoo

Today I was challenged to install a Celtic knotwork pattern evoking the blooming petals of a rose, a mystic circle of sacred geometry in weaves. Worked in crimson to hide beneath the scrubs of an ER nurse, a tribute to her Scottish birthplace and her passion for her healing profession.

Celtic Zoomorphic Chest Plate Tattoo - right side

A returning client with ambitions for extensive tattoo coverage made a special request. Inspired by the full-body Japanese tattoos with upper chest piece panels, we marked out a space to fill, and decided on an eagle, a dog, and an eel to fill it. Hours of drawing last night turned led to hours of tattooing today, and now the cross and spirals on his arm are complemented by the zoomorphic flowing onto his chest.
