Dramatic upper arm coverage is achieved with this combination of integrated patterns. The central piece is a knot work trinity knot, weaving in and out of an eternal circle. Fitted in above it is a knot work epaulet that makes a sculptural statement, flowing up onto the shoulder. Finishing it all out to a complete half sleeve is a band of knot work brought up to pull it all together seamlessly and go all the way around under the arm. Tying the elements together in this rendering are pointillist dots, giving a textural feel and bringing the knots forward visually. They make the pattern feel united as one.
Knotwork Shamrock Tattoo with Celtic Band Design
A shamrock made up of one knotwork line, linked cleverly into a band of knotwork to encompass the arm, leg, or ankle. A perfect tattoo expression of the three leaved shamrock, symbol of Ireland and the trinity, combined with a band of traditional knots from an ancient illuminated manuscript.
45 Record Adapter Tattoo Design
The man who asked me to do this tattoo says : "It separates the men from the boys!" If you are old enough, or hip enough to remember, these little gizmos were placed into the centers of 45 RPM vinyl records if you were playing them on a regular spindle turntable. Now they are a tribal tattoo shape, mysterious and evocative to the uninitiated, nostalgic for those in the know.
Stormchaser Celtic Pictish Tattoo Design
A union of ancient Irish triple spirals from the Tara brooch and a Pictish metalwork pattern, a stormy swirl of two cultures united in their love for the mysterious.
