Dogs have always held an extremely important place in Celtic life and art. The Irish hunting hounds were exported worldwide as royal gifts for centuries, and they figure prominently in all the illuminated manuscripts. This band is from one of the old books from the 6th century, and features a series of racing hounds intertwined.
