College Crest Alumni Tattoo

Today's tattoo is a tribute to college alumni loyalty, team spirit, and family togetherness. This is the crest of the small Eastern College where this man and his brother and father all have played football and where the dad is currently head coach. The numbers are the three numbers worn by these three men on their football uniforms, and the tattoo will always serve as a reminder of this sport and their shared enthusiasm for it and the college that they all attended.

'Wheel of Justice' Celtic Tattoo

The center of this tattoo was done 8 years ago, and it was a big step for the client then, a first tattoo. But now he was ready for more, so we added the custom knotwork and spirals forming a ring around it, tuned up the old piece a bit so they are equally black, and sprinkled a bit of dotting between to make it all tie together as a whole.
It was very hard to photograph because it spans the cap of the shoulder, a very unusual placement but one that gives a strong sculptural quality and has the body armor look many people resonate with.

Saxon White Dragon Tattoo

The White Dragon rampant, stalwart symbol of the Anglo Saxon power of England, big and bold on the leg of someone who cherishes their UK heritage. Standing on symbolic and secret runes.

9th century chronicles record the use of a white dragon as the symbol of the Anglo-Saxons as they invaded Britain. Here he stands rampant, ready, in an adaptation of a sculpture near the Knights Templar church on the Thames in London, England.

Celtic 'Dog Show' Half-Sleeve Tattoo

Today I finished this half-sleeve of Celtic dogs on an excellent client, balancing out another half-sleeve on his other arm. He wanted to show the gentle and fierce sides of the Irish Wolfhound, my own favorite dog breed, and we wove a knot work panel that covers the front of the arm and continues inside as a complete connected band. It took three fairly intense sessions, but now we are done!

Dogs show us two sides, the loyal steadfast friend and the fierce protector. It is precisely because they can be both, and do so at our bidding, that we allow them into our lives as close and trusted and worthy companions.
